IMPORTANT CONSIDERATIONS :
- What U.S. taxes are G-4 Visa holders liable for? What if the G-4's spouse works or earns U.S. based income? What would be the spouse's U.S. tax status?
- Under what conditions can a G-4 Visa holder file a Joint U.S. tax Return with a non-G-4 spouse?
- Once your children and other family members no longer qualify as tax dependents, they would not be covered by the G-4 Visa and must seek their own legal immigration status.
- Foreign Investment in Real Property Act (FIRPTA) - As a non-resident, if you sell U.S. based real estate (whether a residence or investment property) on or before the closing date, FIRPTA tax forms must be filed in addition to 15% of the proceeds being withheld in escrow. Subsequently, U.S. Income tax forms would be filed to retrieve the amount withheld, less taxes that may be due on the profit earned.
