TAX ISSUES:

  • What if I file a Joint Tax Return with a non-U.N. working spouse or have investment income?  How does that affect U.N. tax reimbursement?
  • How must an income tax return with U.N. compensation be filed, by hard copy or electronically?  What document(s) must accompany the filing?
  • Self-Employment Tax - What is it and what portion is paid by staff members?  What if I worked overseas?  What if I am a Permanent Resident and not a U.S. Citizen?
  • Estimated Tax Payments - Who pays them and when are they due?  Are penalties and interest assessed for non-payment or underpayment?
  • Overseas Assignments - Do I qualify for the Foreign Earned Income Credit?  Are Allowances included in taxable income?
  • Consultant - What if I am hired as a consultant rather than a full-time staff member?  How would that affect U.S. tax reporting and the taxes owed?
